All About Soundtracks Review:
Collaborating once again with James Cameron, James Horner delivers a wonderful, epic score to Avatar.

There's a dramatic entrance in the wonderness of Pandora, then a romantic discovery of all this new world, then the human invasion and destruction and, finally, the huge battle. All of this happens in the movie, and all of this happens in the music.
That's one of the reasons why Horner's score is perfect for the movie.
Besides that, there is the use of native vocal choirs, like the one in the beggining of track 5, Becoming One of the People/Becoming one with Neytiri. The other instruments used are also an intelligent choice, specially the percursion, and there's also a nice methalic sound that represents the evil humans, equiped with a lot of high-tech.
Every cue has some kind of epicness, but the best one is, by far, the 11-minute action cue War.
However, what might kill this score for some listeners is the repetion of other James Horner works. For example, the main theme of the score might remind listeners of the theme wrote for Titanic, that also features the song on that album, My Heart Will Go On. And there's also the so-talked four-note danger motif (listen to The Destruction of Hometree), another trademark from this composer.
Overall, despite this repetition that might make it sound too familiar, Avatar can transport the listener to a wonderful ride to a new world.

Noteworthy trakcs are: Becoming One of the People/Becoming one with Neytiri, Gathering All the Na'vi Clans for Battle, War.

Score note: 8/10
