All About Soundtracks Review:
French composer Alexandre Desplat delivers something unexpected, given his usual works: energy. Power.

Twilight Saga: New Moon is full of romatic energy and mistery. A beautiful main theme for the central love relationship is repeated a lof of times and with a lot of variations. It's strongest apparition is made on track 6, Edward Leaves.
There are also a lot of other well used thematic references (e.g. the Volturi theme, with a beautiful rendition in track 4, Volturi Waltz). The action cues are the weakest point, with one exception: To Volterra (track 16).
Desplat trusts on piano, strings and some occasional woodwinds, ignoring the style of the score (composed by Carter Burwell) from the first Twilight movie.
It gives a fresch classical feeling to the Twilight franchise, and is a very entertaing score as a stand-alone listening experience.
An excelent orchestral score, very emotional and filled with thematic development, that probably won't receive its due acclaim from the fanbase of the Twilight Saga.

Noteworthy tracks are: New Moon, Volturi Waltz, Edward Leaves, Dreamcatcher, To Volterra, Marry me Bella.

Score Note: 9/10
